We'll never know about the worker who sent you the generic reply. Did they fail to appreciate your outpouring? Did they want to say more, but feared losing their job? Perhaps they didn't even speak enough English to respond as they would have liked to. I can imagine these workers don't compose these letters at all, but pick from templates, and if they go off script, have to file a report explaining why.
